Giusset + Scarpa

She is at once concrete and solid, just like her projects. She plays with lightness, just as the cages that decorate her Parisian studio are weightless. Like the delicately curved forms of the SOL chair that she designed for Molteni&C. A tribute to grandma’s rocking chair and at the same time a contemporary object. Like the MO lamp, a modular frame lit up by neon, an aerial sculpture that traces light structures, animated by plays of lines in natural wood.

With the grace that only great designers manage to convey in their objects. With the power that won over Ferragamo, who is hosting her “Eclaté (Exploded)” installation in his boutique in via Montenapoleone on the occasion of the 2012 Salone del Mobile. The encounter with Constance is a lucky one. Her project for the Molteni&C Dada Flagship Store in Paris wins the prize for the best interior display at the 2011 Designer’s Days.

The theme “Conversations” becomes a dialogue between architecture and design, between historical and contemporary production, between past and present. The space of the Flagship Store, designed by the Scarpas in 1979, inspires Constance, who decides to display the first furnishing collection that the couple designed for Molteni&C, placing it alongside contemporary products.

An unexpected and surprising comparison, in the spirit of a “conversation”, an encounter with others, which implies evolution, change, an exchange of experiences. “Since the current Molteni&C collections in Paris dialogue permanently with this historic place”, states Constance Guisset, “I thought it would be interesting to underline the history of the company, presenting certain fragments chosen from the Archive, along with the contemporary collections.

The accent is on discovering these objects but also on the total architecture”. So, a project for a store interior, designed and set up with enthusiasm and intelligence, led to a new partnership with the Parisian artist who loves to take people by surprise and thus creates moving objects to amaze and fascinate
