Milano Design Film Festival à l'Institut Culturel Italien à Paris

Molteni&C renews their partnership with the Milano Design Film Festival and will be taking part in its first showing in Paris, on 19 June 2014 at the Institut Culturel Italien de Paris. The four films selected for the event, entitled “La forza del carattere” [“Strength of Character”], includes, for the first time in Paris, “Ron Gilad. The Logical, the Ironic & the Absurd", a reportage on the Israeli designer’s one-man-show, commissioned in 2013 by the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, with over a hundred works, most of which produced ad hoc by Italian manufacturers. Everyday objects that look familiar and functional, but which Gilad’s approach strips of their original purpose and takes them into new worlds. The Paris Festival also features Carlo Scarpa, Piero Fornasetti and Michele De Lucchi, who, with Ron Gilad, represent four examples of uniqueness. Their identities do not overlap, their languages, expressions and designs dialogue with their time and respond to very different needs. And yet, understanding their stories, you discover that there is one thing that they have in common: their ability to fearlessly cross the boundaries of creativity and to transform their visions into objects and structures. What they share is, in fact, strength of character. The Paris Festival offers an opportunity to get to know or to re-discover four leading players in the design field, who have contributed to heightening awareness of Italian craftsmanship in the world and to the success of the Made in Italy brand. Forthcoming stages of the Milano Design Film Festival are scheduled from 24-30 September in Beijing and from 9-12 October at the Anteo Cinema in Milan.
