90TH YEARS OF MOLTENI&C
Molteni&C was born in Giussano in 1934, in the heart of Italy's furniture district. By 1947, what began as Angelo and Giuseppina Molteni’s artisan workshop had grown into a factory employing more than 60 craftspeople.

In 1955, a Molteni&C chest of draws by Swiss architect Werner Blaser won first prize at the inaugural Mostra Selettiva International Furniture Competition in Cantù. Embodying a clean, modern aesthetic, the design set a standard that the company has never abandoned.

Through the 1960s, Angelo Molteni helped found the Salone del Mobile — the Milan furniture fair that would become design's most important stage. In 1968, a young Luca Meda led an internal revolution within the company: the entire production shifted from classic to modern deigns suitable for mass production and crafted using machinery from Germany. This decisive act would define the company's identity from that point forward.

The year 1979 saw a major expansion of the Molteni&C product range when the brand acquired Dada, elevating kitchen design to new heights. Dada, originally founded by Angelo Garavaglia in 1926, is synonymous with advanced technological solutions and seamless design in the kitchen, the heart of the home. The company name lives on through Dada Engineered, a seal of innovation that certifies our rigorous standard of excellence and care in kitchen technology and design.

In the 1980's, Molteni&C joined legendary Italian architect Aldo Rossi in the complete redesign of the city of Genoa's Carlo Felice Theater. This exclusive collaboration marked a turning point in the company's deepening investment in complex architectural contract projects.

The decades that followed brought some of the most significant collaborations in Italian design history — Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Aldo Rossi, Jean Nouvel, Patricia Urquiola — each leaving a permanent mark on Molteni&C. In 1994, the company received the Compasso d'Oro for its career: recognized, in the jury's words, as one of the "key players of Italian furniture culture."

In 2010, the Molteni&C Heritage Collection was inaugurated with the signing of an exclusive agreement with the Gio Ponti Archives. Through this agreement, a curated selection of Gio Ponti designs are brought back to elevate present-day design visions.
Vincent Van Duysen is appointed Creative Director of Molteni&C in 2016, bringing a minimalist rigor shaped by his Northern European roots and a devoted passion for Italy to the cultivation of the brand’s global image and retail concepts.
