sunbeds | news

Carrying the warmth of its name, the Soleva sunbed by Vincent Van Duysen translates the collection’s architectural sensibility into a design dedicated to rest, light, and the open sky. Its slender, powder‑coated aluminum frame traces a precise, elongated silhouette — light to the eye yet robust in structure.

The backrest introduces a distinct textural character through linen‑colored Batyline, a material chosen for its flexibility, breathability, and resilience in outdoor environments. Paired with a loose, unfixed cushion designed to adapt naturally to different lounging preferences, the sunbed offers an essential quality to outdoor living spaces.

A defining feature of this design is the choice between two mattress thicknesses: a lightweight 6.5 cm version that recalls traditional sun loungers, and a more generous 16 cm option that brings the supportive softness of indoor seating to open‑air settings. This adaptability makes the Soleva sunbed suitable for a wide variety of outdoor contexts — from spacious resorts to compact terraces — while its stackable construction allows for intelligent space management for both contract and residential use.

Vincent Van Duysen

Vincent Van Duysen was born in 1962, in Lokeren, Belgium and graduated in architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas, in Ghent. From 1986 to 1989 he worked in Milan and Brussels. He opened his own studio in Antwerp, in 1990 focusing on architecture and interior design. The relationship between interior design and architecture in his work is profound. Furnishings and accessories are designed with an architectural perspective that is not limited by form, but is expressed with a careful perception of interior space and its relationship to the exterior architecture. By interpreting architecture and redefining its proportions, Van Duysen creates objects of great purity and simplicity that still retain a concrete character and solid form.
