coffee tables

The Regent coffee tables by Vincent Van Duysen are the indoor interpretation of a design originally created for Molteni&C Outdoor. The tables’ essential fluidity demonstrates that, aesthetically, these forms can live comfortably in any context and can create a natural continuity between the indoors and outdoors.

Technical Details

“Following the success of our first Outdoor Collection, we wanted to accentuate this indoor/outdoor relationship by reinterpreting the same shape with an adapted tabletop.”

Vincent Van Duysen

The Regent table’s rounded base and slender legs support the tabletop that can be customized in one of several finishes of lava stone for outdoors, including matte, anthracite, olive green, desert yellow. For the indoor version, a glossy polyester finish lava stone is available, in addition to black marquina and calacatta marble with either a matte or glossy polyester finish.

The Regent tables come in several different sizes and shapes, from the low, oval-shaped coffee table versions to the taller, round editions that make the perfect side table next to a sofa. Paired with its sophisticated, minimal shape, Regent’s versatility marks a step forward in Vincent Van Duysen’s longstanding collaboration with Molteni&C, opening the gateway to reinterpreting the historic brand’s extensive catalog for entirely new contexts and environments.

Design

Vincent Van Duysen

Vincent Van Duysen was born in 1962, in Lokeren, Belgium and graduated in architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas, in Ghent. From 1986 to 1989 he worked in Milan and Brussels. He opened his own studio in Antwerp, in 1990 focusing on architecture and interior design. The relationship between interior design and architecture in his work is profound. Furnishings and accessories are designed with an architectural perspective that is not limited by form, but is expressed with a careful perception of interior space and its relationship to the exterior architecture. By interpreting architecture and redefining its proportions, Van Duysen creates objects of great purity and simplicity that still retain a concrete character and solid form.
