Tobia Scarpa, Italian architect and designer, was born in Venice in 1935, where he graduated in Architecture from IUAV in 1969. A versatile and inquisitive designer, throughout his long professional career he has worked across architecture, restoration, exhibition design, industrial design, graphic design, and teaching. From the 1960s onwards, he emerged as a leading figure in industrial design through collaborations with a number of major Italian and international companies, including Molteni&C and Unifor.

From 2001 to 2009, he was dedicated to teaching at the universities of Venice and Alghero.
He has received numerous international awards, including the Compasso d’Oro Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. His works are held in and exhibited by museums worldwide, and monographic exhibitions have been held in Milan, New York, Chicago, Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Bordeaux.
A significant number of publications and monographs have been dedicated to his work in both national and international journals.
