Brucoli Lighthouse

Brucoli Lighthouse

共享:

At the tip of a promontory that harbours the ancient seafaring village of Brucoli, right next to the fifteenth-century Aragonese castle of Queen Giovanna, there is a unique site redolent of sea salt, sunshine and Sicily itself: the Brucoli Lighthouse.

The Brucoli Lighthouse, built in 1911, stands at the gates of the Unesco World Heritage Site of Val di Noto.

It is situated on a peninsula between the Ionian sea and the Porcaia river. It enjoys the best view of Mount Etna and is located next to the 15th century castle of Queen Giovanna of Aragon.

The “genius loci” represented a unique opportunity and a strong stimulus to plan a conservative restoration and conversion of the building into a lighthouse accommodation for cultural and tourism purposes.

A transformation in keeping with the landscape and the environment, which, in a coastal context of this kind, stands out in all its fragile beauty.

The interiors, defined by contemporary spaces, are harmoniously furnished with iconic pieces from the Molteni&C collections, including products such as the D.151.4 armchairs and D.552.2 coffee tables designed by Gio Ponti, the Attico and Domino tables designed by Nicola Gallizia, the Pass-Word bookcase by Dante Bonuccelli, the Fulham bed by Rodolfo Dordoni and the 909 chest of drawers by Luca Meda.

The conservative restoration and conversion project were carried out by Itinera Studio Associato, who paid special attention to the use of environmentally responsible materials and technologies.
