Milan Design Week - ARCHIVIOUNIFOR

Milan Design Week - ARCHIVIOUNIFOR

share:

UniFor has reconfirmed its close ties with the world of architecture with ARCHIVIOUNIFOR, a project of re-editions developed on the historic archives and the original designs by the great architects that have worked with the company over the years. Thus, some the most unique, precious, and timeless objects of Italian design are being made available once again. The starting point of the project is Also Rossi, with four of the most symbolic furnishings he designed for UniFor between the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 90s.

The Parigi armchair, the Cartesio bookcase, the Consiglio table, and the Museo chair are emblematic works that fully express Aldos Rossi’s idea of furnishings as architecture. They will appear at the historic UniFor showroom on Corso Matteotti in Milan.

An evocative installation by Ron Gilad, on the occasion of the city’s Design Week from 5 September 2021, simulates an urban micro-piazza in which Museo, Consiglio and Cartesio are the protagonists and, in a play of proportions, two historic buildings by Aldo Rossi are evoked, the San Cataldo cemetery in Modena and the Monumento ai Partigiani in Segrate. Ron Gilad travels through the mind of the master architect and makes the impossible possible as in a surrealist painting. The spectator is invited to immerse himself in this out-of-scale square, where space and dimensions intersect and blur.
The installation continues on the first floor where the architect's original images and drawings, taken for the occasion from the company's historical archives, are on display.
