Inspired by the archetypal imagery of the animal world, Cavallo — the Horse — embodies Gio Ponti’s playful yet refined approach to decorative objects. Crafted in stainless steel, the sculpture takes the form of a minimalist origami horse, highlighting the master architect and designer’s singular ability to turn simple materials into enduring art. With just a few precise folds, a flat sheet of metal becomes an evocative sculpture, capturing both motion and memory. Gio Ponti’s intuitive use of geometry and gesture gives this object a narrative charm, perfect for animating a table, sideboard, or mantle with understated elegance. Cavallo is available in two sizes, with Cavallo 1 being the smaller version of the two.

In order to maintain the aesthetic characteristics of these finishes over time and avoid rust, regular, methodical and meticulous cleaning is necessary. For everyday maintenance, dust with a soft dry cloth. For greasy oily marks (fingerprints) we advise cleaning the surfaces with normal liquid detergents for glass. Products containing solvents and/or alcohol and hard fibre cloths (linen and synthetics) should be avoided, as they could ruin and/or scratch surfaces. Require monthly maintenance with specific metal cleaning/polishing products.

Delicatamente scolpito con una precisione che ricorda un origami, il Cavallo di Gio Ponti mostra il potere espressivo di una singola piega trasformata in forma significativa. Ponti traeva spesso ispirazione dal mondo animale, affascinato dall’unicità della natura e dalla capacità di ciascun animale di influenzare lo spazio circostante.
