A dialogue between architecture and design, history and modernity, past and present. This is how the young French designer Constance Guisset chose to informally address two great masters of design, Afra and Tobia Scarpa. A dialogue between the first collection of furnishings designed by the pair of architects for Molteni&C and their present work. Works to rediscover include the Mita cabinet, the Mount chest of drawers, the Filo chairs, Monk and Miss, as well as the lamps designed for Flos, in a dialogue with contemporary projects by international designers including the Less table by Jean Nouvel, the Night&Day sofa by Patricia Urquiola, the Arc table by Studio Foster+Partners and the Alfa chair by Hannes Wettstein. The project comes to the Flagship Store in Corso Europa 2 in Milan from 6 to 9 October, 2011 during Milano Design Weekend, following a great success in Paris. The exhibition by Constance Guisset for the space in Rue des Saint Pères also received an award as the best scenery at Designer’s Days in Paris. An unexpected and surprising comparison that reveals hidden harmonies between the architecture and the items housed there, between art and design. “The space is emptied and laid bare like a ballroom”, writes Constance Rubini. “Constance Guisset appears to make the furniture dance the two-step, highlighted by the light and lively structures she’s designed for the occasion”. On 6 October Constance Guisset and Tobia Scarpa will take part in an American-style discussion on the design of yesterday and today. “A tu per tu with Afra and Tobia Scarpa” Thursday, October 6 Cocktail Party 6.30pm with Tobia Scarpa and Constance Guisset Molteni&C Dada Flagship Store Corso Europa 2 20122 Milano T +39 02 76020334 RSVP: rsvp@molteni.it
