50 years of the Compasso d'Oro, 50 years of Italian know how. And for the 22nd edition, an Honourable Mention for Sequence and Lifetime Achievement award for Unifor. The highest award for good Italian design, created by Gio Ponti in 1954, celebrates its anniversary with an exhibition in Rome, the Uniqueness of Italy, a sign of Italy’s continuing energy. An energy which combines industrial mass production with the uniqueness of a creative idea and high product quality. And it celebrates the designers and firms who created the best products in the three year period from 2008 to 2010. A lengthy selection process which reflects the complex research and development process of a design product. The awards were assigned by the 22nd edition international jury chairman Arturo Dell'Acqua Bellavitis, with members Chantal Clavier Hamaide, Umberto Croppi, Guto Indio Da Costa, Pierre Keller, Cecilie Manz, Clive Roux and Shiling Zheng. Honourable Mention for the bookcase Sequence, designed by Patricia Urquiola, selected for the ADI Design Index together with the wardrobe system Gliss 5th and the sofa SKiN. A Lifetime Achievement award for Unifor, leading Italian design firm. Sequence, Gliss 5th and SKiN are on show with the other award winning items and all the products published in the annual ADI Design Index in Rome at the MACRO Testaccio, la Pelanda, until 25th September. Simultaneously the Palazzo delle Esposizioni continues to host the Compasso d'Oro Review Exhibition with 300 prize winning items from 1954 to today.
